[ORDER SOLUTION] Visual Analysis

The readings in UNIT I explore the different perspectives of modern photography and its power on its audiences. These readings challenge what you may think about images and whether or not photographs, especially via social media or the internet, impact you in meaningful ways. In your WP1, you will be analyzing a photo of your choice; drawing upon the readings, you will then make insightful connections between your photo and the class readings.   By now, you should have decided the position you would like to support in this paper:   1.     The prevalence and accessibility of photos powerfully impacts society -or- 2.     The prevalence and accessibility of photos diminishes the power of photos   Using the class readings and a photo as your primary text, write a well-developed visual analysis that effectively supports your position. Note: Your thesis does not have to mimic the exact language of the positions above, but it should convey the same idea.   Your essay should consist of an introduction, which asserts a clear and articulate thesis; well-developed body paragraphs that provide substantial support for your thesis; and a thorough conclusion that reinforces your original position and its significance to readers.   Questions to consider as you are synthesizing your two (or more) texts: Primary Text: Photo of Your Choice   1.     Why did you choose this photo to analyze? 2.     What kinds of emotions does this photo incite? 3.     Does this photo compel viewers to action or desire to provoke change? 4.     How does this photo represent cultural trends? 5.     How does this photo confirm one of the concepts/theories we discussed in class? Secondary Text: Article/ Class Reading   1.     How does this reading affirm or challenge my position? 2.     What kinds of concepts can I use to support my thesis? 3.     What kinds of significant claims does the author make about photography and/or images? 4.     How does this article help my reader understand my position better?   These questions should prompt you to think about your photo more critically. Your essay should not read as a list of answers to these questions.   Guidelines: -MLA format (Double-spaced, 12 point font, 1” margins, proper header/heading) -Include a Works Cited page -Minimum Length: 4 pages -Worth: 100 points   Final Draft due Monday, September 28th, 11:59PM.   Citing Your Photo (Taken from Purdue OWL) An Image (Including a Painting, Sculpture, or Photograph)   Provide the artist’s name, the work of art italicized, the date of creation, the institution and city where the work is housed.
