For this extra credit option, which is worth 3 semester points, you can analyze TWO episodes of the National Public Radio (NPR) podcast Code Switch: http://www.npr.org/podcasts/510312/codeswitch (Links to an external site.) Links to an external site. Here’s the description: “Ever find yourself in a conversation about race and identity where you just get…stuck? Code Switch can help. We’re all journalists of color, and this isn’t just the work we do. It’s the lives we lead. Sometimes, we’ll make you laugh. Other times, you’ll get uncomfortable. But we’ll always be unflinchingly honest and empathetic. Come mix it up with us.” You will choose two episodes that interest you the most. Each episode is about 25-30 minutes long. Then answer the following 4 questions for each episode: 1. Which episode did you choose? What was the title/topic? 2. In 1 paragraph, summarize in your own words what this episode was about. 3. What quote or statement during the podcast episode did you relate to the most or agree with the most? Why? 4. What quote or statement during the podcast episode did you disagree with the most? Why? Your answers to these questions can be in a bullet-point list, about 1 page long for each episode. You will submit it as a doc, txt or rtf file.
