Mindfulness Moments Assignment – Optional Extra Credit Each week youll be given a task to do over the course of the week. These tasks are optional, you can complete none of them or any number of them throughout the semester and they will count towards extra credit for your final course grade. The task will give you the opportunity to bring mindfulness into your lives something that is missing more and more often in our ever more complex way of living especially during these challenging times. Think of it as an opportunity to pause and take notice. Once you completed your Mindfulness Moment, go to Canvas and submit what you did and how it felt. Just one paragraph nothing fancy. Each weekly task must be completed by the individual due date for that task in order to gain credit. Week 1 due by 9/4/20 at 11:59 pm Your task is to reduce cell phone use. You can do this a number of ways. A few suggestions are: 1) enjoy a moment without reporting it until afterwards; 2) Don’t check your cell phone or email until 20 minutes after you wake up; 3) stow your cell phone while eating a meal; 4) leave your phone behind and go for a walk and take in nature or walk with a friend and have a conversation; 5) put your phone in your trunk while driving; 6) make a point to only check your phone at specific intervals during the day – try only once an hour or, be bold, once every 2 hours…these are just some ideas. Examine your own personal cell phone use and find what you can do to minimize your reliance.
