[SOLUTION] Geriatric Breast Cancer
This paper must be focused on geriatric patients with breast cancer only. 65 years or older ONLY. Must write well about breast cancer pathophysiology from the cellular level! Must have title page, headings (levels 1 & 2) and reference pages. References must be 5 years or younger! (written 2015-2020). References must include doi’s. APA 6th Ed. Paper must be no more than 10 pages but at least 8. PLEASE FOLLOW THE ATTACHED RUBRIC VERY CAREFULLY! Please ask me questions. Outline the paper addressing the following sections: Introduction: Overview of the population and demographics Risk Factors for Primary Diagnosis Pathophysiology of Primary Diagnosis: In-depth description of pathophysiology (at the cellular level) of the underlying disease process including discussion of effect on two or more organ systems Pathophysiology for Primary Symptoms associated with the primary diagnosis Typical Lab and Diagnostic Test Data: Detailed description at the cellular level including why the lab or diagnostic data is important in diagnosis, monitoring, or treatment of the disease process. Goals of Therapeutic Management: Detailed description of the goals for therapeutic management. Health promotion/risk reduction (evidence-based) management of the population to promote health and well being. Summary of application of therapeutics to promote health of chosen population and expected optimal outcomes of care. xtra Tips: Introduction- provide details about the demographics of the population (race, cultural/ethnic background), gender, age etc. The more statistics you can include the better! Include the financial impact of the disease. Risk Factors – discuss modifiable (obesity, smoking, stress level etc) vs. non-modifiable (age, gender, race). Include any environmental risk factors. Patho of primary disease – this needs to be described at the cellular level in detail. Include how the disease effects at least two other organ systems. For breast cancer, what other systems are affected? Ex: lymphatic, endocrine, immune, integumentary, circulatory Patho of symptoms – describe at least 3 primary symptoms and what is happening at the cellular level to cause them. If one symptom is a lump in the breast, what is happening at the cellular level to cause this? Other examples of primary symptoms are nipple discharge (other than breast milk such as blood), red flaking skin on the nipple or breast, nipple retraction, swollen lymph nodes. Labs/Diagnostics – describe labs/diagnostics not only for the initial diagnosis, but also for tests that would need to be run as the person lives with the disease for a period of time. Think about how the disease effects the other body systems and what testing would be needed to check on this. Labs/diagnostics should be described at the cellular level as much as possible. It’s helpful to include normal vs abnormal results and any target levels according to standards of care. Goals of therapeutic management – Talk about some of the meds/integrative therapies used to treat the disease. You do not need to go into a lot of detail about these, You want to discuss any standards of care, health promotion/risk reduction interventions. Think about those modifiable risk factors you described previously. Don’t forget age appropriate vaccinations! What are the expected outcomes as a result of the therapeutic management? When doing your research make sure that you are using scholarly sources. For instance the ADA and AHA websites have lots of good patient education materials, but these do not provide the depth of knowledge needed for this paper. These sites do have data etc for professionals, so make sure that you go that section. Mayo Clinic, Cleveland Clinic etc are geared to patients and do not provide the depth of data needed.
