[SOLVED] Ethics and Communication

Provide a 1 page analysis while answering the following question: (Ethics and Communication) Thieves Found Citigroup Site an Easy Entry. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. Thieves Found Citigroup Site an Easy Entry The article written by Schwartz and Dash en d Thieves Found Citigroup Site an Easy Entry published in the New York Times on the 13th of June 2011 proffered issues relative to security breach in this financial institution’s website. The authors revealed the increasing number of cybernet security breach through hacking identification of weaknesses in the system and enabling the hackers to steal volumes of personal data and information and compromising the corporate images of the institutions hacked, as well as their vast ranges of clientele. As indicated in the report, “the expertise behind the attack, according to law enforcement officials and security experts, is a sign of what is likely to be a wave of more and more sophisticated breaches by high-tech thieves hungry for credit card numbers and other confidential information” (Schwartz and Dash 1). The hacked information are sold to the underground market for data of stolen goods (Internet bazaars) where goods and merchandise are purchased using credit card information and the money remitted to points of origin through Western Union or Money Gram. This scenario, apart from being considered a breach of security from the technological perspective, is also an ethical and communication issue in terms of violating ethical codes and the ability to magnify the infraction through the use of the internet as a communication medium. By hacking, vital information is stolen being regarded as an ethical issue of violating human rights. Communication issue is likewise an issue here in terms of announcing these stolen goods in the underground market using the Internet where buyers and sellers abound undetected. [SOLVED] Theories of Persuasion

Theories of Persuasion Final Writing Assignment For this assignment, you will compose a letter designed to recruit IDC students to join one of three unpopular student organizations and to support its agenda.  The organization which you will write about is assigned to your according to last name. There will be no changes. 1.The STALP Collective STALP (Students Tired of Annoying Laptops) is dedicated to the prohibition of laptops anywhere on the IDC campus.    Students with last names starting with the letter A-G 2. CAFC  The Caucus for the Abolition of Free clothing attire. The Caucus seeks to eliminate distractions in college classrooms by requiring the IDC to wear IDC uniforms. H-R 3. MAFD The Male Female Divided wants IDC to separate male and female  students in all classes on campus.   S-Z There will be two components to this assignment: Recruitment Letter Commentary/analysis Your recruitment letter must include six (6) different persuasive strategies discussed in the lectures and readings.  You can use tactics you studied elsewhere but they will not be counted. Each strategy must be used in the service of encouraging students to join the organization and/or endorse its cause.   In addition to your recruitment letter, you will also submit a commentary describing and analyzing the different strategies you used in the recruitment letter.   Papers should be submitted by Aug 21st, 12pm on Moodle Submissions are accepted ONLY as a WORD file. Papers submitted as a PDF will not be read.  ASSIGNMENTS TURNED IN LATE WILL BE PENALIZED 20% ON THE FIRST AND EACH SUBSEQUENT DAY THAT IT IS TURNED IN LATE.   The next page describes a series of requirements for the paper assignment.  Failure to satisfy these requirements will result in point penalties.  Please ask Sharon or Julia well in advance (NOT the night before the assignment is due!) if you have any questions about these requirements.  Also, failure to abide by the academic honesty policy described in the syllabus and maintained by the IDC will result in a grade of zero on the assignment and referral to the Dean of Students. Assignment Requirements The paper submitted must be in a WORD format. PDF will not be accepted. The paper will be submitted to the moodle.  You must use the following format for the recruitment letter and the commentary:  12-point Times New Roman font, half-spaced (NOT double-spaced) with narrow margins on all sides.   You must write about the organization assigned to you. There will be no switching. You must portray yourself as a recruitment officer – not the President, VP, etc. – of the organization described in your letter.  As a recruitment officer, you are not authorized to offer any rewards or bribes (gifts in the form of sports tickets, free meals, etc.) to people as an incentive to join the organization, nor are you allowed to make up fictional incentives (e.g., CAFC IDC members will have the opportunity to join a field trip to visit Rome and meet the Pope in the Vatican).  Your letter should focus exclusively on the merits of joining the organization based on commitment to its cause. The recruitment letter must be no longer than 2 pages; the commentary must be no longer than 3 pages.  There is no lower page number boundary; however, if we think your letter or commentary is too brief to get the job done, we will count off. Your recruitment letter must include at least 6 (six) DIFFERENT strategies discussed in the lectures and/or readings.  You may use any strategy we have discussed EXCEPT for balance theory (which is too obvious) or deception (which isn’t persuasion per se) or granfalloon.  Deception here includes also “throwing a throw ball”—if you promise something that you cannot fulfil. If you are not certain whether the strategies you’ve used are “different,” it is your obligation to contact us well before (NOT the night before) the assignment is due to find out.  If we deem two or more of your strategies not to be sufficiently different, you will get credit for only one.  You must use at least one persuasive appeal/strategy related to the source and at least one related to the heuristic of consistency and commitment. Persuasive appeals/approaches/tactics that were not discussed in our course—will not be counted.    Your commentary must identify each strategy/appeal (e.g., door in the face, foot in the door, attractiveness, goodwill, authority, common ground, scarcity, social proof, strong language, etc.) used in your letter and describe the specific purpose(s) the strategy was used to achieve.  At a minimum, your description of each strategy should consist of at least two complete sentences.  You should start with a short theoretical explanation of each theory and tactic (e.g., what is the principle behind door in the fact/scarcity/ etc and why it is persuasive. Then you need to explain how and why you applied this principle in your paper.  Your explanation needs to be specific and not vague. It is not sufficient to explain that you used the principle of liking because likeable people are persuasive. You need to explain how you tried to achieve liking – by appealing to the audience’ common ground, or by choosing an attractive source, etc. Once again, if you chose an attractive source, you need to explain that why attractive sources are likeable and persuasive and how you tried to achieve that in your paper.    You may not lie under any circumstances.  Lies include falsifications and/or distortions of the truth about the student organization (e.g., Cell phones emit healthy radiation).  Also, you may not offer recruits bribes in any form (tickets, discounts, free food, etc.) as an incentive for joining the organization.  Lies here include using “a low ball.” Appeals on the grade given to you are accepted a week after you receive your grade and no longer than two weeks after you receive your grade. In other words, you have a week to appeal your grade. Grading Rubric We will use the following rubric to evaluate and grade your letter + commentary.   Assignment Component Possible Points Obtained Points Spelling, Grammar, Coherence Are the letter and commentary written in grammatical, coherent English sentences?  Has the assignment been spell-checked? 16 Strategy 1 Example / Commentary Is the example an acceptable instance of the strategy?  Is it different from the other strategies used?  Is the strategy correctly identified and adequately explained in the commentary? 14 Strategy 2 Example / Commentary 14 Strategy 3 Example / Commentary 14 Strategy 4 Example / Commentary 14 Strategy 5 Example / Commentary 14 Strategy 6 Example / Commentary 14 Lies/Deception/Bribes (-3 pts per instance) Total Score 100

[SOLVED] Media Literacy in the Digital Age

Using the concepts learned through the readings and interactive lecture pages, select a social issue or ethical dilemma in the news. Find two recent news articles from two different types of media sources on the issue. In your introduction, for both of your examples, be sure to carefully identify what types of sources you are analyzing (news story, editorial, commentary), the name of the media company, and the date and author. Then, answer the following questions: 1. What assumptions do you make about these articles before reading them? How is your mind already “at work”? 2. What is the main claim and/or point of view expressed (if there is one) by the article? Is the article objectively written? Be careful here – if the article is an editorial opinion, note that the purpose of this type of article is very different from that of a news story. If you are analyzing an editorial, is the argument presented logically? 3. Apply evaluative criteria to your analysis. Is there a particular audience that the article is targeting? Is there an appeal to sensationalism? Can you discern a vested ideological perspective? 4. What is a peer-reviewed source? What peer-reviewed sources did you find that helped in thinking critically about your issue. Requirements: Cite all claims and ideas using scholarly sources. Include at least one scholarly source that is not part of the required or recommended reading for this course. The CSU Global Library (Links to an external site.) is a good place to find these scholarly sources. Your paper should be 4-5 pages in length (not including the title page and reference page). Format your paper according to the CSUGlobal Writing Center (Links to an external site.).

[SOLVED] The Role of Unified Modeling Language

Create a thesis and an outline on The Role of Unified Modeling Language. Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide. An abstract is required. It is the phase that encompasses those tasks that go into determining the needs to meet the goals, taking account of the possible conflicts and specifying the overall risks. A sub-phase of the requirements specifications which deems high importance is Software Requirements Specification (SRS). SRS is a description of the behavioral aspects of the system which includes all the interactions that the users will have with the product (Stellman & Greene, 2005).Modeling is a central part of all activities that lead up to the deployment of good software (Booch et al, 2005). Modeling is exactly the role that Unified Modeling Language plays in requirements specifications. The role of Unified Modeling Language is to model interactive systems, whose behaviors emerge from the interaction of their components with each other and with the environment (Goldin et al., 2001). In traditional computation, algorithmic models were sufficient for the description of requirements. However, today’s interactive systems which are capable of self-reconfiguring and adapting to their environment, algorithm tools do not suffice. Unlike traditional procedural languages, UML provides support for the inherently open-ended preliminary steps of systems analysis and specification, which are becoming increasingly complex (Wegner, 1997). UML is used to visualize, specify, construct and document the artifacts of the software-intensive system. The software of any nature or proportion will have multiple methods, functions, interface, and external and internal accesses. To support such a broad mix of entities, UML provides different views to analyze this software. Analysis of each of these views gives the software designer a set of requirements which can be consequently forward engineered. The prominent views provided by UML are Use Case View, Component View, Deployment View, Concurrency View and Logical View (Eriksson & Penker, 1998).Use Case View: Requirements capture has two objectives: to find the true requirements and to represent them n a suitable way for the users, customers and developers (Jacobson et al., 1999). True requirements are the end user functionalities desired by the user of the system. These functionalities must be presented in a way such that users spend a minimum amount of time understanding it. Use Cases can be applied to capture the intended behavior of the system being developed, without having to specify how that behavior is implemented (Booch et al., 2005). UML provides Use Case diagrams to model the Use Case View.Logical View: The purpose of logical view is to specify the functional requirements of the system. This means that the logical view shows both the static and dynamic views of the system. The logical view concentrates on getting the best logical grouping of functionality into objects (Fincher, 2007). The main artifact of logical view is the design model which gives a concrete description of the functional behavior of the system. UML provides Class diagrams and Object diagrams to model&nbsp.the Logical View.
