Political conflicts continued in the immediate aftermath of the Civil War and ultimately coalesced into the most significant third-party challenge to bipartisan politics in the history of the United States. The growth of industry siphoned power away from farmers during this time period, and conflict resulted. All too often, historians frame this as a contest between rural and urban residents that arose because of different work cultures and living conditions. For my topic I would like to argue the importance of the Fair Foods Program (FFP). I attended law school and in a Peached and Justice class we read a book about the Fair Foods Program and how four out of five major food companies (Yum products [Taco Bell], McDonalds, Subway, Burger King) signed, and yet Wendy’s refuses to sign. Every year there is a major march from Florida to NYC to get Wendy’s to sign and every year they’re faced with tear gas and felonies. I want to highlight the major systematic flaws in farming and tomato harvesting that the FFP is intended to abolish. Such as: rape, slave labor, torture, cancer from the pesticides, murders, and human trafficking. I understand my stance is not to tell everyone to boycott Wendy’s, but I will be using Wendy’s as a major driving example. My intended audience would be the general public to inform them, agriculture involved persons, and immigrants, and hard-core capitalist. Write a research paper (minimum 5-paragraph essay) on a technological, economic, or environmental change impacting agriculture over the last 30 years (since the 1990s). Produce quality project Select three grocery chain supermarkets and observe the produce management operations. Check whether they are following the proper postharvest handling recommendations for specific fruits, vegetables and flowers. How they are displaying, are they maintaining at their optimum temperature, moisture and light conditions in the display cases of each grocery chain and those that are not being held under their optimum conditions.
